   the knowledge

The Asian-Pacific region has by far the largest number of people with disabilities (~600 million) in the world (UNESCO). The Incheon Strategy to “Make the Right Real” for Persons with Disabilities in Asia and the Pacific set the first set of regionally agreed disability-inclusive development goals in 2012.

One of their goals was to half the proportion of persons with disabilities who need but do not have appropriate assistive devices or products by 2022.

Also the UN Convention on the rights of persons with disabilities mandate they are provided with provisions and support to technologies to make societies accessible and inclusive, irrespective of the level of development in a country.
